Admissions Policy & Procedure

How families join The Chrysalis β€” our approach, the step-by-step process, and what to expect at every stage.

School: The Chrysalis Early Childhood School Location: Lekki Phase 1, Lagos Effective: January 2025

At The Chrysalis, we welcome families who share our belief that early childhood should be joyful, unhurried, and rooted in wonder. This policy sets out how children are admitted, ensuring the process is fair, transparent, and warm for every family.

01

Our Admissions Philosophy

We admit children on a first-come, first-served basis within each age group, subject to available places. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religion, or family background. Every child is welcome.

We keep our class sizes small so that each child receives genuine, individual attention. Because of this, places are limited and often fill quickly — especially in our Crèche and Nursery classes.

02

Age Groups & Entry Points

We accept children from 6 months to 11 years, across the following stages:

  • CrΓ¨che β€” 6 months to 2 years
  • Pre-School β€” 2 to 3 years
  • Nursery β€” 3 to 4 years
  • Reception β€” 4 to 5 years
  • Primary (Year 1 – 6) β€” 5 to 11 years

Children may join at the start of any term where a place is available. We recommend applying at least one term in advance.

03

The Application Process

Admission to The Chrysalis follows five simple steps:

  1. Enquiry β€” Complete the enquiry form on our website, or contact us on WhatsApp. We will respond within 48 hours.
  2. School Tour β€” We warmly invite you to visit, meet our team, and see our environment. This helps you decide if we are the right fit for your family.
  3. Application β€” Complete the admission application form with your child's details.
  4. Assessment & Settling Visit β€” For older children, a gentle, play-based assessment helps us understand your child's needs. Younger children attend a short settling visit.
  5. Offer & Enrolment β€” On a successful application, we issue an offer. Your child's place is confirmed once the registration fee and required documents are received.
04

Required Documents

To complete enrolment, families provide:

  • Completed admission application form
  • Child's birth certificate (or sworn declaration of age)
  • Recent passport photographs of the child
  • Up-to-date immunisation record
  • Parent/guardian identification and contact details
  • Any relevant medical or developmental reports, where applicable
05

Fees & Confirmation of Place

A one-time, non-refundable registration fee secures your child's place. Tuition fees are payable per term. Full details are set out in our Fees Policy.

A place is only confirmed once the registration fee is paid and all required documents are submitted. Places cannot be reserved without these.
06

Waiting List

Where a class is full, we maintain a waiting list. Families are contacted in order as places become available. Being on the waiting list does not guarantee a place but ensures you are first in line.

07

Settling-In Period

We understand that starting school is a big step for both child and parent. Every new child goes through a gentle, staggered settling-in period, tailored to their comfort. Our team works closely with you to make the transition smooth, secure, and happy.

Our crèche and nursery teams have welcomed hundreds of little ones. We never rush a child — security and trust are built at each child's own pace.
08

Withdrawal

Should you wish to withdraw your child, we ask for at least one full term's notice in writing. This allows us to plan and to offer the place to a waiting family. Fees already paid for the current term are non-refundable.
